Three political parties in the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) have decided today to contest the upcoming local government elections separately, rather than under a common symbol.
The decision was taken today following a meeting convened at the residence of TNA leader R. Sampanthan, where representatives of three parties namely- Ikankai Thamil Arasu Katchchi, People's Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), Tamil Eelam Revolution Organization (TELO) in Colombo.
It was also decided that based on the number of seats each party receives at the election, they will continue to work under the TNA banner in future as a collective body that represents the Tamil people in North and Eastern provinces. (N. Lohathayalan)
