The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRC) has requested users to re-register SIM card numbers.
The TRC stating that it is mandatory that the SIM card should be registered under the name of the user, said the user should be aware of the SIM cards that have been registered under his/her National Identity Card (NIC) number.
The following methods could be followed to track down the numbers provided under each NIC.
If an unfamiliar SIM number is regist3ered under an individual's NIC, immediate action should be taken to disconnect the SIM. If action is not taken, the holder of the NIC would be held responsible.
For persons who are unable to self-register the TRC has introduced a Re-registration process in selected locations from today.
