Officers attached to Narcotic Control Unit at Bandaranike International Airport arrested a passenger at the airport's green channel after she arrived from Malaysia last night with a stock of narcotic substances identified as Methamphetamine (ICE) consealed in the food stuff packages in her bagages.
The 33-year-old passenger holds a Thai passport and arrived in Sri Lanka from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia via Singapore around 11.55pm yesterday, Sri Lanka Customs said. The weight of the seized narcotic substance is around 5kg and with a street value of Rs.100 million. Sri lanka Customs Narcotic Control Unit has requested the assistance of the Police Narcotic Bureau and further investigations are underway.
