Thilak Pathirage appointed Sri Lanka CERT Chairman
Ten members have been appointed to the new Board of Directors of the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) by the Secretary to the Treasury, following the recommendation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Minister of Digital Economy.
The newly appointed Board convened recently, and Mr. Thilak Pathirage, a senior cybersecurity professional, was elected as Chairman.
Thilak Pathirage is a distinguished leader with over 40 years of experience in IT governance, information security, and cybersecurity within the banking and financial services sector, both locally and internationally. He possesses extensive expertise in managing and governing information and cybersecurity risks, Sri Lanka CERT said.
Previously, he served as the Head of Information Systems Audit, Information & Cybersecurity, and Operational Risk at Seylan Bank, holding a senior management position. There, he played a pivotal role in fortifying the bank’s resilience and aligning IT practices with business objectives.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) and a B.Com. Special Degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and holds several industry-leading IT governance and cybersecurity professional certifications.
As a visionary in the field, Thilak continues to contribute to the advancement of IT governance and cybersecurity, leveraging his deep knowledge and leadership experience to shape secure, resilient, and compliant cybersecurity ecosystems in Sri Lanka.
