The third reading of the budget was passed in Parliament with 123 Votes in favour and 80 against while 2 members abstained from the vote.
C.V. Vigneswaran from Tamil People’s National Alliance (TPNA) and M.Velukumar from Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) were the MPs who abstained from the vote.
Nineteen members including members from the Tamil National Alliance(TNA) were absent from for the vote.
Meanwhile securtiy was strengthened around parliament ahead of the voting.
