Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 44-year-old man in Mahiyanganaya.
Police Media Unit said the Mahiyanganaya Police launched an investigation into the suspicious death of the victim, who had been shot in the Wadakahadowa area on the evening of December 2.
Investigations have revealed that the victim had gone looking for mushrooms along with three other men and that he had been shot when a firearm that one of the others was carrying had discharged. Police said investigators have unearthed that the death was in fact a murder and the three suspects were taken into custody yesterday after surrendering to the Mahiyanganaya Police.
The suspects are aged 36, 44 and 51 years of age and are residents of Godaporuwattha. Further investigations are continuing.
