Three persons have died in a motor accident on the Nuwara Eliya-Welimada main road in Haggala this afternoon (1)
A three-wheeler and a lorry travelling in the same direction have been involved in the accident.
The dead have been identified as Milina Waidyaratne (51), Lakmini Liyanage (52) and Kavishka Sewwandi (20)
The victims had been returning home to Ella Karandagahapola after attending a religious ceremony at the Dalada Maligawa, Kandy, when the lorry, out of control, had toppled on to the three-wheeler at a bend on the road crushing it.
The three-wheeler driver has been admitted to the hospital with critical injuries.
The cleaner of the lorry has been arrested while the lorry driver has escaped. (PCK)
