The Police Child and Women's Bureau has arrested three junior staff members of Parliament on allegations of abusing two female staff members in Parliament.
The Secretary General of Parliament Ms Kushani Rohanadeera in a statement said that the arrests were related to incidents which had taken place in 2022 and prior to that.
She said that she had received the complaints after she assumed duties and acting according to the complaints inquiries were made and the matter was referred to the Attorney General.

The Colombo High Court today (28) sentenced former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra to three years of Rigorous Imprisonment over charges of the involvement of an abduction.
In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
