At least three people have died and three more were reported missing due to adverse weather that has been experienced in the island over the past few days. Over 3000 persons have been moved to secure locations as bad weather continues in many parts of the country.
According to the latest situation report issued by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) as at 6.00am today (2), 3046 persons from 643 families have been moved to secure locations. At least 25 houses have sustained partial damage due to adverse weather.
The Central Province is the most affected, with the three confirmed deaths being reported from Nuwara Eliya District. A total of 2784 persons from 586 families in the province have been moved to secure locations.
