There persons were killed and 39 others received injuries after a bus had fallen into a precipice following an accident with a van today evening in Matale, police said
The incident had occurred in Wilgamuwa area in Matale around 7.30pm.
According to police the bus had fallen off the cliff in the Elawaakanda area in Matale on the Dambulla – Mahiyanganaya Road.
Thirty -seven passengers in the private bus and five persons in the van had been injured in the accident.
The injured passengers were admitted to the Wilgamuwa Hospital. Two passengers of the bus and one passenger of the van had succumbed to injuries.
