Three more suspects linked with the recent killing of five persons in Beliatta have been arrested, Police said.
Police have arrested the suspects in Matara, Hungama area for allegedly providing weapons and cash dealings related to an incident.
On Tuesday two female suspects aged 23 and 33 were also taken into custody by the Hakmana Police on suspicion of complicity in the murder on Monday morning (29).
Investigations revealed that two firearms used in the shooting incident were transported from Karapitiya to Boossa via a motorcycle belonging to one of the female suspects.
On January 22, a group of people who had arrived in an SUV shot dead five persons who were travelling in a defender jeep.
Saman Perera, the leader of “Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya” was among the five killed.
Sameera Madhusanka, Hasitha Chinsuka, Buddhika Rajapaksha, and Nalin Champika were the other four victims.
The driver of the SUV that the gunmen were using was identified as one of the suspects. He is suspected to have been involved in orchestrating the murders.
The SUV that was used by the gunmen was located by investigating officers near Vidyaloka Pirivena in Galle on January 24.
