Heavy Showers and Thunder showers would occur island wide after 1.00 pm, a spokesman for the Meteorology Department said.
The Metrology department warned the public that fairly heavy rains above 75 mm could occur in Western, central, Sanbaragamuwa and Uwa provinces.
The spokesman also warned the public to take precautionary measures to safeguard them from thunder strikes as thunder showers are expected in the evening hours.
He added that misty and foggy conditions could be expected during early morning at Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uwa provinces.
