Within the next 24 hours, intermittent showers are expected in the surrounding of sea areas from Batticaloa to Hambantota via Pottuvil.
Also, a few showers or thundershowers are expected in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle, especially during the evening or night.
Winds over the sea areas around the island will be northeasterly and the wind speed will be approximately 30–40 km/h. Wind speed may increase occasionally up to 45–50 km/h over the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam can be fairly rough at times while the other sea areas around the island are slight.
During thundershowers, there is a possibility of temporary strong winds and the sea conditions in those areas which might become very rough temporarily, said the Department of Meteorology.
