The Department of Meteorology says showers may occur in several parts of Sri Lanka today at several places in the Sabaragamuwa, Western, Central, North-Western, North-central provinces and in Galle, Matara and Mullaitivu districts during the day or night.
The department further mentioned that mainly fair weather would remain elsewhere over the island.
In the meantime, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo during the night.
Winds will be south-westerly over the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Galle via Mannar and Colombo. Besides, winds will be south-easterly or inconstant in direction in the rest of the sea areas around the island and will strike at 20-30 KMPH.
The sea areas around the island will be moderate although, temporary strong gusts of wind and very turbulent waters are most likely to occur during thunder showers.
