The Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, (CPA) Stephen Twigg arrived in the country last night.
Deputy Chairman of Committees Angajan Ramanathan and Assistant Secretary General of Parliament Tikiri Jayathilaka welcomed the Secretary General of CPA and the group.
Mr. Twigg will be accompanied by Ms. Emily Davies, Head of Strategy and Engagement of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
During his visit, the Secretary General is to meet with the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker, the Leader of the House, the Leader of the Opposition, the Foreign Minister and other Ministers, Members of Parliament as well as representatives of civil organizations.
Mr. Twigg was appointed as the 8th Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) on August 01, 2020. He also served as a Member of the UK Parliament from 1997 to 2005 and from 2010 to 2019.
