Case against Ranil postponed until Jan 28
The court case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe over alleged misuse of Rs.16.6 million in state funds was taken up before the Fort Magistrate Court this afternoon. The Magistrate today ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to check the veracity of the medical reports submitted by former President Wickremesinghe to obtain bail when he was produced in courts in August on allegations of misuse of state funds for a foreign trip. The case was fixed for January 28, 2026.
Fire in Narahenpita, house damaged in apartment complex
The fire that broke out on the fifth floor of an apartment complex located at Dabare Mawatha, Narahenpita was controlled by thirteen fire engines that was dispatched. Heavy damage was caused to one house.
IGP lodged a complaint against SDIG

Two dead after consuming contents of bottle found floating in sea
Two persons at a fishing wadiya at Narakkaliya, Puttalam have died and two others have been admitted to the Puttalam Hospital in critical condition after consuming the contents of a bottle found floating on the sea, said Norochcholai Police.
