Mahinda Rajapaksha's Security Officer released on bail
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama issued the order to release on bail of Rs. 50,000 and three sureties of Rs. 1 million each of Neville Wanniarachchi, Chief Security Officer to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa who was arrested and remanded by the Bribery Commission on suspicion of illegally acquiring assets and properties worth Rs. 28 million.

 

STC Former Chairman arrested 
Former Chairman of the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation (STC) Hussain Ahamed Bhaila has been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for importing 50 temporary storage units (Cocoon) to the Corporation in 2015 without necessity and in violation of the prescribed procurement procedures which caused a loss of Rs. 99,679,799.70 to the Corporation and an equivalent gain to external parties.

 

Members of Parliament receive security on request
A discussion was held at the Parliament to provide security to all Members of Parliament who request security personnel at the Parliament. The meeting was attended by IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya.

 

Wellawaya Magistrate suspended 
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended Wellawaya Magistrate Manjula Ratnayake from his duties following a complaint lodged by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) regarding several of the Magistrate’s case rulings.
