Gal Oya red flood warning issued
A red flood warning has been issued to the downstream areas of the Gal Oya by the Department of Irrigation.
Drug smugglers remanded until December 9
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court ordered remand until December 09 for the seven suspects who were in connection with the smuggling of nearly 376 kilograms of heroin and crystal methamphetamine into Sri Lanka off the coast of Tangalle.
Two spill gates of Weheragala reservoir opened
Assistant Director of the Monaragala District Disaster Management Centre, Ravindra Kumara said that two spill gates of the Weheragala reservoir have been opened by one foot each and four additional gates have been opened by six inches each following heavy rainfall.
Kandy-Nuwara Eliya main road temporarily closed
Due to the threat of rockfalls Kandy-Nuwara Eliya main road was temporarily closed for vehicular traffic from Gerandi Ella Falls, according to the police.
The Colombo–Kandy main road at Pahala Kadugannawa has been closed indefinitely after a deadly rockfall in the area that left six people dead and four others injured.
