SLTDA letter to promote LGBTIQ tourism withdrawn
The Court of Appeal has been informed by the Attorney General that the letter issued by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), which endorses projects aimed at promoting and developing LGBTIQ tourism in Sri Lanka, will be withdrawn.
Applications called to fill RTI Commission vacancy
The Constitutional Council has called for nominations from civil society organisations for a vacancy arising in terms of Section 12(1) (c) of the Right to Information Act No 12 of 2016, to be recommended to the President for appointment as a member of the Right to Information Commission.
Smuggled illegal ornamental plants at BIA
The Biodiversity, Cultural and National Heritage Protection Division and Customs officials arrested a 19-year-old Sri Lankan passenger at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for attempting to illegally smuggle a consignment of ornamental plants valued at around Rs. 600,000 into the country.
Re-registration for SIM cards obtained before August 2, 2019
Cabinet approved to introduce new regulations amending the existing framework for Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards. These regulations require the re-registration of subscriber information for all SIM cards obtained before August 2, 2019.
