Over 50,000 tourists have arrived in the country during the first fifteen days of February, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.
The Minister said the country is presently targeting a monthly tourist arrival of 200,000.
“Airport facilities should be upgraded to avoid overcrowding. Airport officials should ensure efficient and quick service,” the Minister said during his visit to the Bandaranaike International Airport premises today.
He said at present more tourists are arriving in groups to the country rather than families or singles, therefore the BIA should be able to handle more tourists while ensuring the airport is a pleasant and comfortable place for them.
