Tourists and Sri Lankans to undergo 14 day quarantine

Anyone arriving in Sri Lanka should be quarantined for 14 days and that includes tourists arriving in a bio bubble.

Director General of Health Dr. Asela Gunawardena issuing a new circular on May 11 stated that all travellers to the country should be quarantined for 14 days revising the previously issued circulars for specific persons entering the country.

This includes Sri Lankans, tourists, foreign mission staff, foreigners with resident visas or even those visiting the country as officials part of a state visit.

All travellers above 12 years are to undergo Day One (on arrival) and all travellers of two years and above should undergo Day 11 to 14 PCR testing, the circular states.

Anyone with a positive test result at the conclusion of the 14 days should have their quarantine period extended, the circular further states.

The measures are to be effective until May 31, 2021. Earlier tourists were not restricted to a quarantine period and only asked to take PCR tests (depending on the duration of their stay) and stay in COVID-19 certified hotels. (SD)
