Small scale service providers to the tourism trade in the Sigiriya have come together with a novel idea to improve the industry.
They have introduced a system of encouraging the tourist to spend the overnight in the area, instead of leaving the area after visiting the Sigiriya rock.
Opening of small restaurants promoting local food and fruits with some of them operating late into the night has been witnessed.
Tourists have been seen enjoying the facilities late into the night.
They have also offered low – cost three-wheel rides for tourists to travel in the area.
