Tourism officials were on hand at the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning to give a grand welcome to a large group of tourists from Malta who arrived in the country today. The group of 50 tourists is the largest such tour group from Malta and are due to spend 12 days in the country.
The group will be spending their vacation traveling to areas such as Negombo, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Kaudulla National Park, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains and Yala National Park. They are also due to travel by train to Ella.
The group has chosen Sri Lanka as their holiday destination this year after it was recommended by travel agents from Malta. Representatives of Malta's travel agency sector spent 12 days in Sri Lanka earlier on an assessment tour and had subsequently recommended the country to their clients, noting that it was a cheap travel destination with plenty to offer visiting tourists.
