The Government has decided to impose islandwide travel restrictions between 11 p.m tomorrow (May 13) and 4 a.m on Monday (May 17) continuously, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.
However, essential services and food transportation during this period will continue as usual.
The vaccination programmes in the Western province too will continue during the period and persons could call over at the nearest location for their vaccinations, he said.
Meanwhile from Monday onwards the travel restrictions will apply from 11 PM to 4 am on the following day until May 31.
The move comes hours after travel between provinces was restricted.

On odd days those who have 1,3,5,7,9 as the last digit of the NIC can leave their homes.
On even days those who have 0,2,4,6,8 as the last digit on the NIC can leave the homes.
