Two Police Sergeants aged 50 and 36 linked to the Tourist Police Unit at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) have been taken under arrest by the Katunayake Airport Police following a complaint filed by a passenger for snatching two packets of gold gel worth over Rs. 15 million from his hold.
The suspects were identified as residents of Kimbulapitiya and Munamaldeniya areas.
They were due to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today (18).
It has been further reported that the said packets of gold gel were also taken into custody and no action had been taken against the passenger since the incident took place outside the BIA.
