Two accomplices of underworld mobsters, Badowita Nalin and Panadura Kamal have been arrested, the STF said today (June 1).
Upon information received by the STF officials of Special Operations III, they had conducted a raid on a luxury apartment in Nawinna, Maharagama yesterday, where two suspects were arrested.
The suspects, aged 33 and 34 and residents of Panadura, were in possession of 203g 170mg of heroin, four mobile phones, an electronic scale, packaging equipment and a car.
The suspects went by the names of Panadura Chootan and Hichcha and had been involved in packaging and distribution of drugs.
It has been revealed that they were accomplices of the underworld mobsters, Panadura Kamal, who is currently imprisoned and Badowita Nalin, who is involved in drug trafficking in Dehiwala, Ratmalana and Mount Lavinia areas.
The suspects were handed over to the Maharagama Police for further investigation.
