Two businessmen were arrested at the BIA while attempting to smuggle foreign currency (46,000 Euros) worth 11 million rupees, Customs said.
Customs Spokesman Sudantha Silva said the two Colombo-based businessmen have tried to board the Emirates flight at 2.55 a.m. heading to Dubai. They were arrested by the Customs Narcotics Control Division following months long investigation.
The duo have been fined and the smuggled money has been confiscated, he said.
