Two businessmen smuggling gold to the value of Rs 28 million have been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today morning, Customs officials said.
They were returning to Sri Lanka from Chennai.
They are residents of Wellampitiya.
The duo were taken into custody by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) with gold jewelry weighing over 1.7 kilograms hidden in their luggage.
The suspects, along with the seized gold have been handed over to Sri Lanka Customs officials for further investigations.
