Parliament will hold a two-day debate next week on the situation that has arisen with regard to the Local Government Election.
Accordingly, the adjournment debate relating to "Franchise," moved by the Opposition, will be held from 10.30am to 5.30pm on March 9 and 10 as agreed at the meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business yesterday.
The debate is being held in the backdrop of the Election Commission being forced to postpone the Local Government Election scheduled for March 9.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
