Two deaths have been reported so far owing to adverse weather experienced over the past few days.
According to the latest report issued by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) this morning, one death has been reported from Thambuttegama in the Anuradhapura District while the other death has been reported from Dehiowita in the Kegalle District.
The DMC states that 731 persons from 180 families across six districts have been affected by the adverse weather. The affected districts are Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Galle, Badulla, Kalutara and Kegalle. One house has been classified as fully damaged while 152 others have sustained partial damage. Ten instances of damage to critical infrastructure has also been reported.
