Two persons have died on the Southern expressway after being hit by a fuel tanker, police said.
The deceased, a driver of a lorry and his assistant, aged 61 and 72, have stopped at the 126.8 km post near Aparekka to check whether the solar panel stocks in the lorry have been tied properly. A fuel tanker coming from behind has crashed into the parked lorry killing both men and critically injuring one in the oil tanker.
Malimbada police has commenced investigation into the collision.
