Two forest fires have been reported yesterday, police said
They said that forested areas near Wellawaya and Gingathhena police areas were affected by the fires.
Police said that 10 acre area of the Hela Galbokka Kanda reserve in Wellawaya police area. However the police, Wildlife officers, army officials and residents in the area had managed to douse the fire.
Another fire was reported at Gingathena, near the Diyagala water purification plant yesterday. However the fire was doused with help by the residents and police. The police are carrying out further investigation to learn how the fire had occurred.
