A container transporting potatoes from Welimada to Colombo skidded off the road and crashed into a tea plantation at Kadawala in Ginigathhena this morning (23).
Both the container driver and his assistant were rescued by area residents and taken to hospital. However, their injuries are reported to be minor.
The stock of potatoes in the container was later transported to Colombo in another vehicle.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
