At least two persons were killed, several injured and affected due to adverse weather conditions including floods and landslides, as heavy rains continued in several areas.
The deaths were reported from the Kegalle and Galle districts.
A 32-year-old man from Aluthwatte, Galle was drowned after being swept away by flood waters on Friday (14) morning.
Another man was killed when he was buried in an earth slip in Kegalle.
A landslide occurred in Madeniyawatta area of Polpitiya in the Ginigathena area in which five persons were injured when their house was damaged.
The injured were rescued by local people and army personnel from the Lakshapana army camp.
The seriously injured daughter and mother have been admitted to Nawalapitiya Hospital. The bedroom of the house was severely damaged in the incident.
Meanwhile, several roads in the upcountry, Kegalle, Galle and Kalutara districts were impassable.
