The brother and sister of the same family were drowned on Sunday (1) at a water fall in Badalkumburua in the Monaragala district, Police said.
The victims were residents of Okkampitiya identified as Suraj Madhushanka Gajaweera (30) and Ayesha Gayashani Gajaweera (23).
They had visited the Pareiyan Ella waterfall with the family members.
The sister had slipped into the water and the brother had jumped to save her.
The diseased brother Suraj Gajaweera is an executive in a private firm and was to get married on August 18 while the sister was scheduled to be enrolled to the Badulla Nursing College on August 15 for nurse training.
The post-mortem examinations are to be held today (2) at the Monaragala District Hospital.
Badalkumbura Police OIC Sunil Disanayake is conducting investigations.
