Two heroin busts made by the Special Task Force (STF) resulted in the arrests of three suspects along with more than 13 grams of heroin and more than Rs 880, 000 in cash suspected to have been earned from drug dealing.
In one incident, two suspects aged 29 and 37 years were taken into custody by officers from the STF camp in Gonahena from Kandana on Monday (28) with 10.85 grams of heroin and Rs 504, 000 in cash suspected to have been earned through drug dealing.
The suspects were handed over to the Kandana Police for further investigations. They were produced before the Welisara Magistrate yesterday (29) and were remanded in custody till July 12.
Also on Monday, officers from the STF camp in Gonahena conducted a raid in Ragama and arrested a 37-year-old suspect with 3.10 grams of heroin. Officers also recovered cash amounting to Rs 377, 070 suspected to have been earned through the drug trade.
The suspect was handed over to the Ragama Police for further investigations. He was produced before the Welisara Magistrate's Court yesterday where he was ordered to be remanded in custody till July 9.
