Two unidentified bodies of a man and a woman were detected from Kuruwita and Gamapola areas, yesterday police said.
They said that even though the two separated incidents were unrelated the victims of both incidents were unidentified as well as had drowned during the same day.
The police explained that the Kuruvita police was alerted of a drowning of a person in the Kuru Ganaga during afternoon hours. Following the investigations on the incident they have detected the body.
The police said that the deceased identity has not yet been confirmed, yet they believe the deceased person is a 70 year old man. They said that the deceased is of a five feet and five inches height.
They also added that the deceased was dressed in a yellow long sleeve shirt and blue and pink striped sarong. The body has been placed in Ratnapura hospital mortuary. The police have been
In the other drowning incident reported at Gampola, Ilwatura area a body of a 50 year old woman was found, after she had drowned in Mahaweli River.
The police said that they discovered the body after an investigation held following information received via tip off. They elaborated that they have not yet identified the deceased.
They said the five feet tall and slim tanned body of the nearly 50 year old deceased has been placed in the Gampola Hospital mortuary. The late drowning victim was dressed in a red and white sari with a blackish blouse.
