The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk arrived in the country today on an official visit to Sri Lanka from 23 to 26 June 2025.
He was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra. This marks the first visit by a UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to Sri Lanka since February 2016.

The price of Lanka Petrol 92 Octane has been reduced by Rs. 5, while the price of Lanka Super Diesel Star Euro 4 has been increased by Rs. 5, from midnight today, October 31, 2025, according to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
