The United National Party condemned the decision by the government to rush the Kotalawela Defense University bill through Parliament without adequate public construction.
"This bill was originally presented by the UNP government in April 2018. However, following opposition the then government withdrew the bill and decided to proceed with further discussions with relevant stakeholders," a statement from the party said.
The UNP also urged the government to withdraw the bill and proceed with necessary amendments following public consultations.
