The United National Party (UNP) is to launch a fresh membership drive from October 22 coinciding with the birthday remembrance of the founder of the party D.S. Senanayake.
General Secretary of the UNP Range Bandara told a news conference that a digital identity card would be issued first under the registration of members.
He said the identity card will be in several colours according to the level of contribution made to the party and could be upgraded accordingly.
Mr Bandara said through this process they will have no problem in co-odinating work islandwide and will not need to have special permission from the party headquarters.
The second step would be to introduce an online registration system while Lak Wanitha, Jathika Youn Peramuna Trade Union front members too will be able to register.
The third stage would be to introduce an app to review performances of members which will be helpful in monitoring the contributions the members make.
