The Chilaw Urban Council Chairman and his brother allegedly involved in an assault incident have been granted bail.
The two suspects were arrested after they entered into an argument over high-speed motor cycles travelling on by lanes in the area.
The UC Chairman, Thushan Chathuranga Abeysekara and his brother Ishan Chathuranga Abeysekara were granted bail by Chilaw District Judge and Magistrate Indrajith Buddhadasa. They were released on two surety bails of Rs 100,000 each.
The UC Chairman and his brothers are sons of former UNP MP Shantha Abeysekara who later supported the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
The UC chairman was also supporting the SJB.
Two persons injured in the incident had been hospitalised.
The judge warned the UC Chairman and his brother not to get involved in such incidents.
