Plans are ahead to resume academic work for third and fourth year students by November, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof. Sampath Amaratunge said.
He said the government plans to vaccinate all between 20 and 30 years of age by the end of October prior to re-opening of universities.
Meanwhile, the Intern University Students Federation said the government has not yet released the procedure of resuming studies in universities. The Union charged that universities lack handwashing and sanitary facilities and overcrowded hostel rooms pose a health threat.
