The vaccination programme for people aged between 20 and 29 commenced in several locations in the country including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Galle districts.
Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Army Chief General Shavendra Silva said 20 vaccination centres will be operational at the same locations.
He said vaccination of those above 20 in these districts would take place at the same vaccination centres operating at present. The Viharamahadevi Park, Diyatha Uyana, Panagoda Army Camp and Werahera Army Camp are among the locations in the Colombo District.
Meanwhile, 92,430 doses of the Pfizer vaccine purchased by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) was received at the BIA today.
Sri Lanka had previously received a delivery of 176,000 of the Pfizer vaccine while another consignment of 124,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine was received on August 30.
