The annual Budget- 2022 for Valvettithurai Urban Council was defeated today by one vote when the budget was put into voting.
Chairman of the Council S. Selventhira representing Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO), a constituent party within Tamil National Alliance (TNA) submitted the budget today morning.
Mr Selventhira was elected as the Chair last month the post was vacated by the sudden death of the former Chairman who succumbed to COVID-19.
The Council has decided to submit a fresh budget after two weeks. According to the local government regulations, if the second budget submitted by the Chair is to be defeated, the Chair would lose the Chairmanship. (N.Lohathayalan)
