Vegetable prices in Kalpitiya have shown a sharp drop with most of them selling at Rs 100 per kilogram.
The drop of prices comes in the wake of the increase of produce.
Vegetable stocks heaped up on the roadsides with boards displaying they were available for sale at Rs 100 per kilogram has been a common site in the area as well as the Puttalam main road.
Among the vegetables for sale is carrot for Rs 100 per Kg.
A farmer said that one of the reason was that with the high vegetable prices in the past three months, many of the cultivators have increased the farming lands.
The drop in prices is likely to be reflected in markets in Colombo in the next few weeks.
