Vehicle hijacker held under detention order

News

A 72-hour detention order has been obtained to detain and question the suspect who attempted to steal a lorry in Wattala earlier today.

The police said the suspect failed to comply with orders to stop when the Wattala Traffic Police pursued the vehicle.

Attempting to prevent the suspect from escaping, officers fired at the front tires of the lorry, bringing it to a halt.
