Veteran dancer Kulasiri Budawatta has passed away at the age of 71.
He passed away at his home at 'Kalapura' in Mount Lavinia after a prolonged illness.
The highly respected dancer and dancing teacher established the 'Budawatta School of Performing Arts,' from which many of the country's leading dancers have graduated over the years.
Born on May 6, 1950 at a village called Budawatta in Aranayake, Mawanella, he was the first Director of the Youth Dancing Troupe of the National Youth Services Council. Mr Budawatta also functioned for many years as the Director of the State Dancing Troupe.
