Water charges needs to be increased, Minister Thondaman

The charges for Water, would have to be incrased soon, in view of the electrcity tariff increases, Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, Jeevan Thondaman said.

Speaking at a public meeting in Matale, he said that as most of water supply projects operate with electricity, the water charges too need to be increased.

Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
