Wet weather conditions in the South-western part of the country will certainly intensify in the days ahead from today (October 3), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-western provinces along with Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts will experience showers or thundershowers on occasion.
The weather forecast further predicts moderately heavy rainfall above 75mm to sweep across a few places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern Provinces.
Eastern and Uva provinces may encounter showers or thudershowers during the evening or night.
In addition, showers or thundershowers are on the cards at several places in the sea areas off the coast expanding from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota.
Southwesterly winds of about 30-40 KMPH may advance into 50-60 KMPH occasionally in the marine areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai plus, Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
In the meantime, stormy seas are expected in the maritime zones off the coast widening from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
Moreover, strong gusts of wind and turbulent waters are also foreseen during thundershowers transiently.
