Whale floats ashore at Kalpitiya
A whale floated to the sea beach in Ippanthivu, Kalpitiya was pushed back with great effort today afternoon.
An official of the wildlife department identified the whale as a "Bryde's Whale". It was believed that the whale had lost its way.
Wildlife officials, the Navy and Kalpitiya NARA branch backed by the residents helped to push back the whale to safety.
